CHANDIGARH: Haryana Deputy Chief Minister Chander Mohan said here on Monday that 65,630 compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs) and 33,461 energy-efficient T-5 tube-lights had been installed or replaced in the State Government buildings at a cost of Rs.167 crore. He said the Haryana Government had taken several steps to save energy so that the power demand could be fulfilled. The Energy Conservation Act, 2001, had come into force in the State with effect from last March and the Department of Renewable Energy had been designated as the nodal agency. By installing the CFLs and T-5 energy efficient tube-lights, the Haryana Government had saved 122 lakh units of power, he said. The PWD (B and R) Department had also installed 13,650 CFLs and 6,065 T-5 28W energy efficient tube-lights. Similarly, the Haryana Urban Development Authority had installed 325 CFLs and 4,870 energy-efficient tube-lights. Moreover, 448 CFLs and 2,564 T-5 tubes had been installed at the new and old Haryana Civil Secretariats in Chandigarh, Mr. Chander Mohan added.
