Safety week at Delhi Metro

Staff Reporter

DMRC staff, 60 scouts and guides to be deputed at the stations

NEW DELHI: The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation is observing “Safety Awareness Week” at its stations across the Capital.

According to DMRC Chief Public Relations Officer Anuj Dayal, passengers will be guided to have a safe ride while using escalators and elevators at the metro stations during the weeklong exercise that will continue up to January 7.

“At present, 158 elevators and 161 escalators have been installed at the metro stations, while 253 escalators and 205 elevators have been planned for Phase II. Additional escalators are proposed to be added in future at Chandni Chowk and New Delhi metro stations in view of increased passenger rush,” said Mr. Dayal.

To promote greater awareness among commuters, the DMRC staff along with 60 scouts and guides will be deputed at the stations.

Informative material will be distributed to passengers during the safety awareness week.
