V. Purushottam Reddy HYDERABAD: Telangana Regional Development Board Chairman V. Purshottam Reddy has urged seniors in the party not to complicate Telangana issue by making controversial remarks. Mr. Reddy, who called on Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy on Monday, told reporters that it is not right on the party of senior leaders to issue controversial statements on Telangana. Asked about the statement issued by Congress Working Committee member G. Venkatswamy that development could be achieved through creation of smaller States, he said it is better for the party leaders to refrain from issuing statements. “Instead of complicating the matter, leaders must try to find a solution to the issue,” he remarked. Leaders from Telangana region are planning to meet AICC president Sonia Gandhi in January to press for taking an early decision on the Statehood. To a query on the APSRTC chairman M. Satyanarayana Rao’s remark that the Chief Minister is hindering the creation of a separate Telangana state, Mr. Purshottam Reddy said such comments are incorrect and unwarranted. “It is wrong to blame the Chief Minister on the issue,” he observed.
