Fined over ‘panchaloha’ idols

Kochi: The Ernakulam Chief Judicial Magistrate on Monday imposed a fine of Rs.25,000 on former joint director of the Agriculture Department Abraham Thomas for attempting to sell two panchaloha idols without obtaining licence. In case of default, he would have to undergo simple imprison- ment for 45 days. He had been charged under the Antiquities and Art Treasures Act, 1972. — Special Correspondent
