NEW DELHI: The selection committee, which met under the chairmanship of Vinay Lamba at the DDCA here on Monday, chose the following team to represent Delhi in the Ranji Trophy semifinals against Baroda to be played at Indore from January 5 to 9. Left-arm spinner Rahul Sanghvi and medium-pacer Sumit Narwal have been included in the team on the request of skipper Gautam Gambhir. Sanghvi comes out of retirement while Narwal is yet to make his debut for Delhi. The team: Gautam Gambhir (captain), Akash Chopra, Shikhar Dhawan, Mithun Manhas, Mayank Tehlan, Chetnya Nanda, Amit Bhandari, Parvinder Awana, Narinder Singh, Rajat Bhatia, Puneet Bisht, Aditya Jain, Gaurav Chhabra, Rahul Sanghvi, Sumit Narwal. In the women’s event, the top four ranked national players, with Saina Nehwal as the spearhead, will vie for the top honours and an equal prize money of Rs.110,000. Subhash Negi lobbed a free-kick from 25 yards and Hitender flicked home in clinching the crucial goal, against the run of play, in the 31st minute.
