CHAMARAJANAGAR: President of the Kannada Chaluvali Vatal Paksha Vatal Nagaraj has urged the Governor to order an inquiry into the alleged harassment of Kannadigas in Goa. He was speaking after inaugurating the 22nd Kannada Rajyotsava celebrations organised by the District Kannada Youth Association here on Sunday. Mr. Nagaraj said Chamarajanagar bandh had been called on January 27 to urge the Union Government to fulfil various demands of Kannadigas. “Rail roko” protests would be organised at 600 places in the State on January 26 under the aegis of the Karnataka Gadi Horata Samiti. He urged the Railway Minister to issue a “White Paper” on the railway lines sanctioned to Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and West Bengal. Mr. Nagaraj recalled the contribution of cinema artistes such as Balakrishna, Narasimha Raju and Raj Kumar to the development of Kannada. Ekalavya Award winner Sudarshan and international quiz winner C.M. Annapoorneshwari were felicitated.
