Work on several road development projects worth several hundreds of crore is on around Chennai city. Along the western corridor, connectivity between the NH 45 and NH 4 is being improved by four-laning the Chennai-Bangalore Road for a stretch of 19 km at the cost of Rs. 160 crore. The roads in the industrial area in Oragadam are being upgraded at the cost of Rs. 300 crore. Land acquisition has been completed for 30 km of the proposed Outer Ring Road. The Environmental Impact Assessment and feasibility are being studied for widening and geometric improvement works of the East Coast Road. The IT corridor till Siruseri is expected to be inaugurated in March, 2008.
