Security stepped up in places of worship

KANCHEEPURAM: Security has been stepped up in all places of worship in Kancheepuram on the eve of the New Year. Superintendent of Police K.Periaiya told presspersons here on Monday that police pickets would be posted at the places of worship where midnight prayers or New Year celebrations would be held. He said “it is a routine exercise” when asked whether there was any specific reason or intelligence report that had made the district police to bring mosques and darghas under police bandobust scheme for the New Year eve.
