Assembly session from January 23
Special Correspondent
CHENNAI: The State Assembly will have its next sitting from January 23. Governor Surjit Singh Barnala on Monday issued a notification summoning the seventh session of the 13th Assembly here.
Assembly Speaker R. Avudaiappan told reporters that the session would begin with the customary address by the Governor.
The Business Advisory Committee of the Assembly will meet the same day to decide the duration of the session. After the obituary references the next day, Members will speak on the motion of thanks to the Governor’s address.
He said that the eight cases of the breach of privilege referred to the committee on privileges were under consideration. Asked about the 10-day suspension awarded to AIADMK MLA A.K. Bose, he said the member would have to serve the sentence. This would depend on the length of this session.
“If it is less than 10 days then he will serve the remainder in the next session. But, let us wait and see. The BAC will decide on the length of the current session,” he said.
