Kannada activists to go on fast

BANGALORE: The activists of Kannada Nadu-Nudi Rakshana Samiti staged a daylong hunger strike in front of Mahatma Gandhi statue here on Tuesday urging the Union Government to accord classical language status to Kannada. G. Ashwathnarayana, samiti president, said the Union Government was discriminating against Kannada, although the language had the merits to be accorded classical language status. — Staff Reporter
