Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI: The Municipal Corporation of Delhi demolished illegal structures at New Friends Colony, Lajpat Nagar and East Patel Nagar on Monday as part of its drive to crack down on additional fourth and fifth floors in the Capital.

In Central Zone, the MCD squads demolished extra illegal floors at D-Block New Friends Colony and O-Block Lajpat Nagar-II.

Two properties having illegal extra floors were demolished at East Patel Nagar in Central Zone. There were about two dozen illegal structures at these two properties.

The Delhi High Court had ordered demolition of illegal fourth and fifth floors in the Capital.

The civic body had begun the drive last week. It has identified more than 18,000 structures in which fourth and fifth floors had been added illegally.
