Inmates narrate their woes to Mr. Naidu He urges ZP chief to solve their problems HYDERABAD: Telugu Desam Party president N. Chandrababu Naidu celebrated the New Year by calling on the students of a social welfare hostel and the destitute and the disabled inmates of “Aram Ghar”, both in Rajendra Nagar on the city outskirts, on Tuesday. Hostel inmates poured out their woes to Mr. Naidu who was accompanied by senior leaders — T. Devender Goud and Mahendra Reddy. From lack of proper toilet facilities to fetching drinking water from the nearby Mandal Revenue Office, they had a litany of complaints. Mr. Naidu heard them patiently and told them that he would ask the Zilla Parishad Chairperson to solve their problems, including sinking of a borewell. He said children hailing from Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Backward Classes were determined to study hard to build their careers, but there was no government support. It was not even providing them blankets to enable them to face winter. Blankets distributedHe later distributed blankets and fruits to the welfare hostel students. The TDP president later walked into “Aram Ghar”, a home for uncared aged persons, physically and mentally challenged men and women. For over a hundred inmates, it was a pleasant surprise as they recalled how they thought they could see him only on the television. “It was nice to see and meet him,” said the elderly Chinni. They greeted him with a “namaste”, as he met each one of them and enquired about their well-being and distributed pullovers, apples and bananas. Even as he was leaving, one of the inmates, Jalejar Bulsara was seen pleading with press persons to suggest to Mr. Naidu to take him to his home on M.G. Road in Secunderabad.
