BERHAMPUR: A three-member gang of thieves was nabbed by the Sadar police station of the city. The arrested persons were Raghunath Das of Bendalia village, Rajiv Behera and Bulu Ghadei of the city. Police seized large amount stolen household items, gold and silver ornaments from them. The arrested persons have confessed that they were stealing from houses that were remaining locked for a few days. During the day they were inspecting different areas of the city and its outskirts to locate houses which remained locked up for some days as their owners were out of the city. They were breaking into these houses at night to take away valuables. Recently the gang had stolen large amount of ornaments from the house of a doctor at Lochapada area of the city on Dec 8. On Dec 12, they targeted the house of a trader at Nigam Nagar area of the city. After two days they looted a road side kiosks at Sukunda. They took away all valuables from these small shops. On the same night they also took away ornaments and cash from the house of a person of the same area. A police patrol nabbed two members of this gang out of suspicion while they were roaming. Their arrest led to the arrest of other accused.
