A spiritual kickstart to the year

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: January 1 is not only the start of the New Year, but also when many implement their New Year resolutions. Manage stress. Eat healthier. Exercise more. Spend more time with family. But all this needs a bit of help from above, believe Bangaloreans who share their ideas on how they intend to achieve their goals.

For Poorna Sakhi and Lokesh Sakhi, going to the temple is not about obligation, but about having a spiritual experience. The couple visits the temple at the start of every year. “The New Year is a great time to think about the changes we want to make in our lives. Being and staying well is a resolution many people make for the New Year, but those resolutions can lead to frustration when we find we have set unrealistic goals, which is why I feel it is easier to start in a spiritual environment,” says Ms. Poorna,

For P.V. Tanusha, a postgraduate student, the beginning of the year is also for some soul searching. She says: “The new year provides the opportunity to reflect on the events of the past 12 months. There also is the anticipation of a New Year of changes and accomplishments. Sitting in church gives me the peace of mind to think things over.”
