BANGALORE: A man with criminal antecedents who had been to a New Year’s Eve party was found murdered on the road in Byatarayanapura police station limits in the early hours of Tuesday. The police identified him as Sunil Kumar alias Palla (23), a resident of Rudrappa Garden in Kasturbanagar on Mysore Road. There were criminal cases against Sunil in Chamarajpet and Byatarayanapura police stations. He was recently released from jail, the police said. Around 8.30 p.m. on Monday, Sunil left his house along with a friend telling his parents he was off to a New Year’s party and would come home in the morning. Around 3 a.m. on Tuesday, beat policemen found Sunil’s body lying in a pool of blood on Ashwathakatte Road in Kasturbanagar. The assailants had hit him on the head with a chopper. The Byatarayanapura police, who have registered a case, suspect that Sunil could have been murdered owing to gang rivalry. Chain snatchedA man snatched a gold chain worth Rs. 20,000 from a woman in Malleswaram police station limits on Monday night. The police said that around 7.30 p.m., a man crept up from behind and snatched the chain from Rukmini of Milk Colony while she was walking towards a church. The incident took place near Nirmala Rani School on 18th Cross, Malleswaram. The Malleswaram police have registered a case. RobbedTwo youths attacked an ex-serviceman and robbed him of cash, a gold chain and a mobile phone in Hennur police station limits on Sunday night. Around 7 p.m. the armed men waylaid K.G. Thimmaiah, a resident of HBR Layout, near the Forest Office while he was returning home after a walk. They threatened him with a knife. Thimmaiah suffered injuries on his palm in the scuffle with the robbers, who relieved him of Rs. 80 cash, a gold chain and a mobile phone, the police said. The Hennur police have registered a case. Three killedTwo persons were killed on the spot after a sand-laden lorry knocked down their motorcycle in Channapatna town in Ramanagara district in the early hours of Tuesday. The dead were identified as Nagaraj Urs (32) and Nagaraj (28), both residents of Hongnur village in Channaptana taluk. The accident occurred around 3 a.m. on Bangalore-Mysore highway, off the Channapatna town police station, the police said. In another incident, Chandramohan (56) was killed on the spot after a tractor rammed his motorcycle near the Shanimahatma temple on Rajagopalanagar Main Road here around 4 p.m. on Monday. The police said Chandramohan, a resident of Sheshadripuram, was an employee of a courier agency in Peenya. The Peenya traffic police have registered a case and seized the tractor. SuicideA 13-year-old boy, who had consumed poison a few days ago, died at a private hospital at the stroke of the New Year. The police said Kiran, a Class VIII student, had consumed insecticide after his father reportedly admonished for being irregular to school. Kiran was the son Venkataramanappa, a resident of Lakshmidevamma Block in Ganganagar. The R.T. Nagar police have registered a case.
