U.P. is vulnerable to terrorist attacks Nab the culprits responsible NEW DELHI: The Congress on Tuesday urged the Centre and the Uttar Pradesh government to protect the lives and property of citizens by stepping up security arrangements all over the State. Condemning the attack on a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) camp in Rampur near Bareilly in which eight people were killed, the party asked the government to immediately take “every step” to nab the culprits responsible for the barbaric attack. Expresses shockExpressing shock and grief, chairperson of the AICC Media Committee M. Veerappa Moily said “the time has come for taking appropriate security measures by both the Union Home Ministry, as also the Uttar Pradesh State Police.” “The Centre will provide all necessary help to the State government. The U.P. government should be alert and take measures, including sharing of information. Any laxity on this count will be dangerous,” he said. Coordinated measuresNoting that the Rampur attack came about 40 days after a series of blasts ripped through three court premises in the State killing 13 people, Mr. Moily said: “The Prime Minister presided over the Conference of Chief Ministers on National Security issues in New Delhi about two weeks ago where he impressed upon them the need to remain vigilant and initiate coordinated measures to curb terrorism. The National Security Adviser has also written to State governments and advised them to take steps to avert recurrence of terrorist attacks.”
