Collector warns of action
Staff Reporter
Krishnagiri: The district administration will initiate stringent action against retail outlets that sell electrical goods/devices which do not have the mandatory ISI mark, Collector Santhosh Babu has said.
The Collector said that micro, small and medium enterprises that were engaged in the manufacturing of electrical accessories such as cables, wires, switches, water heaters, iron boxes, radiators, tungsten bulbs, circuit breakers, motors, transformers, pressure stove and other devices should comply with ISI standards. Mr. Babu said that the State Government had decided to enforce the provisions of the Electrical Wires, Cables, Appliances and Protection devices and Accessories order 2003 amended in 2004.
Inspection
The general manager, District Industries Centre, is empowered to inspect the retail outlets and seize devices that do not have ISI mark, the Collector said.
The district administration would initiate criminal action against retail outlets, which sell sub-standard electrical items.
