CPI flays Puducherry government

Staff Reporter

“Congress has failed to implement poll promises owing to internal problems in party, Ministry”

PUDUCHERRY: The Puducherry unit of the Communist Party of India (CPI) on Wednesday flayed the Congress government in Union Territory for “not fulfilling election promises.”

Secretary of the Puducherry unit of CPI Nara Kalainathan told reporters that the government had failed on all aspects. The CPI, an ally of the Congress in the Union Territory, attributed the failure of the government in implementing the schemes to “internal problems in the party and the Ministry.”

Mr. Kalainathan said that if the government continued to function in this manner, the Congress would lose its popularity among the public.

Asked whether the CPI would continue to support the government, he said the party’s State committee meeting scheduled from December 4 to 6 would discuss such issues. The meet would also discuss the functioning of the government in detail.
