Malappuram leading in arts fete

Bags 191 points in High School section at the end of the third day




WINNERS ALL: Adeeba P. and team of Al Bashir English Medium School, Nariparamba, which won the first place in Oppana for UP Girls in the 20th Malappuram district school arts festival being held at Raja’s Higher Secondary School, Kottakkal; (right) students of St. Teresa’s Ango-Indian Girls Higher Secondary School, Kannur, who won the ‘A’ grade at the Kannur district school arts festival at Payyannur on Wednesday.

MALAPPURAM: Malappuram sub-district was leading with 191 points in the high school section when the last results for the third day of the 20th Revenue District school arts festival being held at Raja’s Higher Secondary School, Kottakkal, were announced on Wednesday. Vengara was in second place with 152 points and Ponnani third with 121 points.

In the upper primary (UP) category, Parappanangadi was leading with 106 points. Vengara and Perinthalmanna were close behind with 103 and 97 points respectively. Malappuram, Mankada and Kuttippuram were trailing closely with 95 points.

In the UP Sanskrit festival, Kuttippuram and Parappanangadi were neck to neck with 195 points each. Perinthalmanna and Malappuram were close behind with 194 and 192 points respectively.

In the UP Arabic festival, Kuttippuram was leading with 117 points, followed by Melattur and Malappuram with 115 and 113 points respectively.

In the high school Arabic festival, Vengara was leading with 132 points, followed by Tanur and Kuttippuram with 130 and 127 points respectively.

In the high school Sanskrit festival, Parappanangadi was leading with 180 points. Kuttippuram had secured 170 points and Malappuram 161 points.

The following were the first-prize-winners in some of the results declared on Wednesday:

Tabala (HS): Shibin Raj K. (KHMHS, Alathiyur).

Prose recitation (UP Sanskrit, boys): Manu Shankaran E.V. (AUP School, Nellisseri).

Prosce recitation (UP Sanskrit, girls): Megha P. (AUP School, Pariyapuram).

Vandemataram (HS Sanskrit): Arya D.S. and party (DGHSS, Tanur).

Story writing (TTI): Noora V. (TTC DIET, Malappuram).

Literary Quiz: Aparna P. (St. Gemma’s High School, Malappuram) and Athira (GHSS, Manjeri).

Light Music (TTI): Navaneeta Rajendran (Government TTI, Malappuram).

Flute (HS General): Sai Kiran (DHOHSS, Pookkarathara).

Arabic Recitation (UP): Faiza Shebi (UAHMUP School, Omanur).

Mridangam/Ghadam (HS): Pranav G.R. (VCNGHSS, Mookkuthala).

Folk Dance (UP General): Varsha P. (NSS Karayogam Higher Secondary School, Kottakkal) and Devika T.K. (PESPKEMHSS, Parappanangadi).

Oppana (UP Girls): Adeeba P. and party (Al Bashir English Medium School, Nariparamba).

Kannur North, Payyannur leading

Our Staff Reporter writes from Kannur: The Kannur North and Payyannur Educational districts are in a close race in the high school (HS) general category competitions on the second day of the Revenue District school festival here.

Kannur North scored 286 points in the HS general category, while Payyannur was close behind with 284 points when competitions in 110 items were completed. Taliparamba North secured the third slot with 236 points.

In the HS Sanskrit category, Thalassery North was leading with 55 points. Payyannur and Panur were not far behind sharing 52 points, closely followed by Kannur South and Taliparamba North with 51 points. Panur posted a clear lead in the HS Arabic category with 112 points, with Madayi and Mattannur in the second and third positions with 104 and 98 points respectively. Thalassery South, Kannur South and Kannur North were also in a close race in the UP general category.
