Rape victim traced

KAKINADA: A six year-old girl, who was believed to be murdered after being raped by one Prasanna Kumar at Chirala in Prakasam district, surfaced in Kakinada on Tuesday night. She was spotted at Kakinada town railway station by RPF constables and handed over to the police.

She was later sent to the custody of National Child Labour Project (NCLP) officials.

NCLP Project Director G. Satyanarayana told The Hindu that medical tests were conducted at the Government General Hospital in Kakinada to find out if she was raped. The girl was roaming on the railway platform when the RPF cops questioned her. She could not tell them anything except that she was dumped by a youth in a toilet on a train heading for Kakinada. The NCLP officer said a team of police personnel led by a DSP are coming from Chirala, along with the parents of the girl, to take her back by Thursday afternoon.
