JAIPUR: The Power Finance Corporation has sanctioned a loan of Rs.300 crore to Jaipur Vidyut Vitaran Nigam to speed up its ambitious feeder reform programme. The public sector discoms in Rajasthan supplied a record 339 crore units of electricity during December. The power load in the State touched a record level of 5,375 MW on Monday – the last day of 2007 – registering an increase of 500 MW in comparison with last year. The 11.42 crore units of electricity supplied on Monday were also 1.2 crore more than the units supplied on the previous year’s last day. RecordsThe Chairman and Managing Director of Rajasthan Vidyut Prasaran Nigam, Shrimat Pandey, said here on Wednesday that these records were achieved as a result of the feeder reform programme. The electric supply in December was 31.49 crore units more than that in the same month of last year. Jaipur Discom Chairman and Managing Director R. G. Gupta said the PFC had released Rs.125 crore as first instalment of the loan on Monday. The funds will be used for purchasing machinery and equipment. Mr. Gupta said the Jaipur Discom had no liabilities in the New Year as a result of its efficient financial management. The Discom paid the cost of electricity purchased from other States on time, for which it received a cash incentive of Rs.19 crore during the past year’s seven months.
