Rupee edges down

MUMBAI: The rupee on Wednesday closed marginally down at 39.43/44 against the U.S. dollar in lacklustre activity due to weakness in Asian equity markets. It closed at 39.41/42 on Tuesday.

At the interbank foreign exchange market, the Indian unit resumed at 39.40/41 and later moved in a narrow range of 39.3900 and 39.4475.

Attributing the dull trade to New Year holidays in global markets, particularly the U.S., forex dealers said the market lacked direction as investors were in a holiday mood. — PTI
