HYDERABAD: Taha Kapadia beat P. Shreyas Verma 6-1 in the pre-quarterfinals of the boys’ under-10 section in the Pioneer Tennis Academy’s tennis tournament on Wednesday. The results: Boys: Under-10 (pre-quarterfinals): Taha Kapadia bt Shreyas Verma 6-1; Rahul bt Sairam Bharadwaj 6-2; Jai Sachdev bt Vishal Reddy 6-1; Srijitesh Swamy bt Vishnu Aketh 6-0; Srirang Sathyan bt Nitin Kumar 6-1; Rathod Sai Raj bt Sohail Ahmed 6-4; Taqiuddin bt Jashwanth Yadav 6-2; T.S. Rao bt Adarsh Reddy 6-2. Basketball selectionOsmania University will conduct selection trials to pick its team for the South West zone inter-university basketball championship. The trials will be conducted at the OU Women’s College, Koti, on Jan. 7 at 7 a.m. Interested may bring their eligibility certificates and identity cards one hour before selection and report to coach Nayeemuddin (Ph: 9848396922). Cross-country trialsOsmania University will conduct its cross-country trials for men and women at its grounds on Jan. 6 at 6.30 a.m. The distance for men will be 12.5 km and for women six km.
