Chau dancers from Purulia of West Bengal enthralling the audience at Ganjam Mahotsab in Berhampur. — BERHAMPUR: The Ganjam festival concluded on a colourful note as several cultural troupes staged exhilarating folk dances and dramas here on Wednesday. The main attraction of the day was ‘Raja Nata’ in which Hindu mythological king Hiranyakasyap was the main protagonist. The story revolved around child devoteeof Lord Vishnu, Prahlad and his cruel father Hiranyakasyap. Staged in both Oriya and Sanskrit languages, Raja Nata drew huge crowds to the festival venue. Though Raja Nata had a duration of two to three days, it had been shortened to a few hours to suit the timings of people, who need not have to come daily to watch their favourite drama. Similarly, Bharat Lila another Ganjam’s traditional folk theatre, was staged. The troupe had come from Patapur. Magic showBesides, magic shows of D. K Rao enthralled the revellers on the concluding day of Ganjam festival. Local troupes performed modern dance on the occasion.
