KCR wants Krishna water for two districts

Staff Reporter

Allocate 800 tmc to Mahabubnagar and Nalgonda from the 1,000 tmc going waste into sea, says TRS chief

Addresses students at an orientation programme on the need for a separate State

Wants them to transform other students so as to create ‘loyal soldiers’ for the Telangana cause

Sangareddy: Telangana Rashtra Samithi president K. Chandrashekhar Rao has asked the State government to allocate 800 tmc of Krishna water to Mahabubnagar and Nalgonda districts out of the 1,000 tmc that flows into the sea every year.

Addressing students of Medak and Ramayampet constituencies at an orientation programme in Medak town on Wednesday, Mr. Rao said the people of Telangana would not mind if the remaining 200 tmc of water was taken to Rayalaseema area through the Pothyreddypadu head regulator.

He also dared both Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy and TDP chief N. Chandrababu Naidu to prove his claim of steep fall in the command area of the SRSP as false. Explaining the need for a separate State to the students, Mr. Rao gave a call that each student who attended the camp should return home to transform at least one more student as a ‘loyal soldier’ for the cause of Telangana. He said only students had the capability to turn the movement into a political power. He told them that even Lalu Prasad could not stop the formation of Jharkhand as the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha succeeded in forcing Mr. Yadav, the then Bihar Chief Minister, to pass resolution in the State Assembly favouring separate statehood. “YSR and Naidu are not bigger sepoys than Lalu,” he quipped.

Ideal State

Commenting on the ongoing discussion on trifurcation of the State, the TRS chief said he did not care whether the Centre carved one or three States out of AP as long as it announced statehood to Telangana. He said the TRS would certainly be a part of the government and development once the State was formed. He called upon the students to dream the creation of an ideal State.

Member of the Legislative Council R. Satyanarayana, Ramayampet MLA Padma Devender Reddy, TRS Medak district president M. Raghunandan Rao and district in-charge Rajaiah Yadav were also present.
