STC Kancheepuram gears to meet the challenge
KANCHEEPURAM: The State Transport Corporation, Villupuram (Division-III), Kancheepuram has geared up to take on the Metropolitan Transport Corporation, Chennai, which is likely to extend its service up to Chengalpattu.
MTC has been operating services from different parts of Chennai to Tambaram as well as to Tiruporur and Mamallapuram, apart from introducing deluxe bus services up to Sunguvar Chatram on Chennai-Bangalore National Highway.
Meanwhile, enquiries reveal that the STC, Kancheepuram, has decided to introduce new model buses with fibre seats in town service route no.T60 between Tambaram and Chengalpattu from January 3. The STC authorities have decided to replace 3 plus 2 seating arrangements with 2 plus 2 fibre seats like in deluxe buses operated in Chennai.
Good response
Overwhelming response from passengers to deluxe buses and a hefty collection achieved by the MTC through these services on some of its routes have also tempted the STC authorities to introduce such buses on the Chengalpattu-Tambaram section.
A total of six new buses out of 35 vehicles allotted to the STC, Kancheepuram, have been fabricated as deluxe buses to be operated as express service on route no.T60 between Chengalpattu and Tambaram.
