Canada Chief Justice to deliver law lecture

KOCHI: Chief Justice of Canada Beverley McLachlin P.C. will deliver the S. Easwara Iyer memorial law lecture 2008, at Taj Residency, here on Monday. The topic will be ‘The rule of law, prosperity and social justice.’ She will also deliver the keynote address at the inauguration of the two-day-long law lecture, on Saturday on the topic ‘National security and civil liberties.’ The lecture will be inaugurated by K.G. Balakrishnan, Chief Justice of India.

The event has been organised by the S. Easwara Iyer Law Foundation. Addressing mediapersons at the Ernakulam Press Club on Thursday, C.S. Rajan, president of the foundation and former Judge, High Court of Kerala, said that the foundation aimed at raising the quality of the legal profession and strive for social justice.
