‘Trifles’ can wait?
Nowadays, civic agencies of Kochi are so obsessed with mega-schemes that seemingly small, but crucial matters are neglected. They spend lakhs on putting up digital display boards and costly blinkers at junctions. The very same agencies are finding it difficult to fill a gaping pothole on arterial roads, install a few reflectors on medians and narrow culverts that pose threat to motorists. One month has passed since a leak in the water pipeline resulted in the road caving
in at two portions between Vytilla and Elamkulam. The leakage was sealed a fortnight ago, but the huge potholes remain, causing accidents and traffic hold-ups. Someone needs to tell the Corporation that ‘Trifles make perfection, but perfection is no trifle.’
