Malappuram ahead with 372 points; Vengara in second place

MALAPPURAM: Malappuram educational sub-district was cruising ahead of others with 372 points as the revenue district school arts festival neared its end on the fourth day on Thursday. Vengara sub-district was in the second position with 341 points.

The competitions being held at Raja’s Higher Secondary School at Kottakkal appeared certain to be dragged into late night.

In the upper primary section, Vengara sub-district was ahead with 169 points. Parappanangadi was in the second position with 162 points.

The verdict of the Sanskrit festival was available by evening. In the high school category, Parappanangadi emerged champions with 221 points, followed by Kuttippuram and Tanur sub-districts with 211 and 195 points, respectively.

DG Higher Secondary School, Tanur, lifted the individual championship in Sanskrit festival for high schools by scoring 179 points. NSS Karayogam Higher Secondary School, Kottakkal, stood second with 120 points. In the upper primary category, Kuttippuram and Parappanangadi shared the top honours by scoring 195 points. Perinthalmanna and Malappuram sub-districts got the second and third positions with 194 and 192 points.

AUP School, Pariyapuram Central, lifted the individual championship in Sanskrit festival with 126 points. AUP School, Marakkara, scored 122 to get the second position.

In the Arabic Festival, the results of which were pending, Parappanangadi and Vengara sub-districts were neck-to-neck with 162 points in the high-school category. In the upper primary section, Kuttippuram was leading with 131 points followed by Malappuram with 129 points.

In the teachers’ training institute (TTI) festival, MME TTI, Melmuri, was leading with 60 points. MCT TTI, Melmuri, was in the second position with 56 points.

The following were some of the results announced on Thursday:

Malayalam poem recitation (upper primary general): Vini S. (Ganapath AUP School, Kizhisseri).

Oppana (high school girls): K. Amrita and party (AKM HS, Kottur).

Daff Muttu (high school): S.M. Mohammed Basil and party (CR HSS, Velimukku).

Hindi elocution (HS): Priyanka Raj (PEM HSS, Parappanangadi).

Parichamuttukali (HS): K.K. Nisant and party (KMG VHS, Tavanur).

Band display (HS): P. Sonak and party (FEM HSS, Tirur).

Hindi recitation (HS): V. Harita Krishna (THS, Thachinganad).

Mohiniyattom (HS girls): Jalwa Jamal P.K. (Fathimamatha HSS, Tirur).

Guitar (HS): Stefy K. Thomas (St. Paul’s EMHS, Tenhipalam).

Drama (HS): Rajeesh M.P. and party (IKT HSS, Cherukulambu).

Mimicry (HS girls): Aruna K. Prakash (CHM HS, Pookalathur).

Music concert (HS): Hansel P.V. and party (St. Paul’s EM HS, Tenhipalam).

Mimicry (HS boys): Syamkumar (GH SS Kattilangadi).

Conversation (HS Arabic): Rizwan Abdul Rasheed and team (OHSS, Tirurangadi).
