BHUBANESWAR: The capital city of Bhubaneswar recorded the lowest temperature in three years at 10.8 degree Celsius in the wee hours of Thursday as cold wave from northern region swept remote areas of Orissa. Temperature last dipped below 10 degree Celsius on January 17, 2003. The temperature of Bhubaneswar had been below four degree Celsius than its normal temperature during this time. “Cold wave condition prevails over some parts of Orissa. Weather has been dry. Minimum temperature rose over north interior Orissa and change a little over rest of the State. They were below normal,” the local meteorological office said here on Thursday. It warned that the cold condition was likely to persist for next 48 hours as dry cold winds would be blowing from northern India during the same time. Phulbani recorded the lowest temperature of the State with 5.2 degree Celsius. Revenue control room of the state, however, did not confirm any casualty in the ongoing cold wave condition. In northern Orissa town of Keonjhar, temperature dipped to 7 degree Celsius. In Balasore, the minimum temperature was measured at 9.6. The minimum was recorded as 10.8 degree Celsius in Sambalpur. Night life hitMinimum temperature in Paradip, Puri, Gopalpur, Chandbali hovered around as 12 degree Celsius to13 degree Celsius. Nightlife was affected in most parts of interior districts of the State with people choosing to return home before temperature started falling.
