7 DPCs in Karur

KARUR: The Tamil Nadu Civil Supplies Corporation (TNCSC) has opened seven direct purchase centres (DPCs) in the district to procure samba paddy from farmers.

The centres have been opened at Nangavaram, Nachalur, Panikkampatti and Kulithalai (two centres) in Kulithalai taluk, Sivayam in Krishnarayapuram taluk and Industrial Estate area of Karur taluk, said a press release issued here by Collector T.N. Venkatesh on Thursday.

Farmers would be given Rs.825 per quintal for Grade A variety paddy and Rs.795 per quintal for other varieties. The amount included an incentive of Rs.150 per quintal.

Paddy with up to 17 per cent humidity and falling within admissible parameters would be procured at the centres, Mr. Venkatesh said and called upon the paddy farmers to make use of the opportunity and sell their produce at the centres.
