Akademi award for Malathi Rao

Bangalore: Bangalore-based author Malathi Rao has been chosen for the Central Sahitya Akademi award for 2007 for her novel Disorderly Women. The novel narrates the story of four women in pre-Independence India who fight odds to cross the line of domesticity.

The book was brought out by the Bangalore-based publishing house Dronequill in 2005.

Ms. Malati Rao said that it was a “lovely feeling” to be chosen for the award.
