EC fiat on voter ID cards

BANGALORE: The Election Commission has asked the State government to complete the electoral roll revision by January 10.

Deputy Election Commissioner R. Bhattacharya, deputed by the commission, held a series of meetings on Thursday with State Chief Electoral Officer R. Ramseshan, divisional commissioners, deputy commissioners of districts, and officials of the Finance Department, Bruhat Bangalore Mahangara Palike and city corporation commissioners.

According to the officials, who attended the meeting, the commission directed the State government to start issuing voter identity cards. — Special Correspondent
