‘Congress to function as united force’

Special Correspondent

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president Ramesh Chennithala said veteran leader K. Karunakaran’s return to the Congress would help strengthen the party. There was no two opinion in the party on this count, he said.

Talking to reporters at his residence on Thursday morning, Mr. Chennithala said Mr. Karunakaran had assured him that the current unity and discipline in the party would be maintained. The question of accommodating Mr. Karunakaran’s supporters would be worked out after talks. He said no decision had been taken on Mr. Karunakaran’s plan to conduct a merger rally.
