This Day That Age
The north-east crater of Mount Etna was hurling rocks and ashes 300 metres into the air on January 2 in a new burst of activity. Lava was creeping down the eastern flank of the mountain, and volcanologists said seven or eight extremely violent explosions were occurring every minute inside the volcano.
