NEW DELHI: P. Hari Krishna drew with fellow overnight-leader Azerbaijan’s Vugar Gashimov in the fifth round of the Reggio Emilia International chess tournament at Reggio Emilia, Italy, on Wednesday. The 52-move battle, the day’s longest, ended with both players having a rook, a bishop and six pawns each. Hari now shares the second spot with three others at three points. Top seed Zoltan Almasi defeated Romania’s Mihail Marin to lead with 3.5 points. The results (fifth round): Vugar Gashimov (Aze, 3) drew with P. Hari Krishna (3); Zoltan Almasi (Hun, 3.5) bt Mihail Marin (Rom, 2); Michele Godena (Ita. 1.5) drew with Konstantin Landa (Rus, 3); Ni Hua (Chn, 3) bt Sergei Tiviakov (Ned, 2); David Navara (Cze, 2) bt Victor Korchnoi (Sui, 2).
