Stress on distance education

BERHAMPUR: Berhampur University envisions increasing scope of its distance education to enhance its reach in south Orissa.

It is the only university in south Orissa, which comprises of remote districts inhabited by tribals and dalits.

The university celebrated its 42nd anniversary.

According to the Vice-Chancellor of the Berhampur University, B.K.Sahu, in the coming year there would be more stress on the Distance Education Center of the university.

The university has demanded the status of Central University with a satellite campus at either Koraput or Jeypore.

he authorities feel if satellite campus of the university becomes a reality then it would take higher education to the door steps of the downtrodden living in under developed KBK districts.

Jogamaya Patnaik of MKCG medical college was awarded Ramchandra Mardaraj Deo memorial gold medal as the best medical graduate.

Thirty two other students who topped in different post graduate courses of the university were awarded gold medals at the foundation day function.
