HAVING FUN: Children participating in the annual learning skills fun fair at Bal Bhavan in Bangalore on Thursday.

BANGALORE: It was an exhilarating break from routine for children and the air was filled with delighted laughter.

The occasion was the Chili Pili Mela where youngsters in government and corporation schools were taken to the Bal Bhavan in Cubbon Park by the Promise Foundation.

The children spent a day in the beautiful environs of the park, learning to make things with their hands, listening to stories, watching magic shows, interacting with puppets, learning new songs and generally having a good time.

The schools that participated included the Madivala Government High School, the government primary schools from Ellukunte, Koramangala Village, Rajendranagar, Audigodi Circle and MARP Audigodi. The Balasevikas from the Karnataka State Council for Child Welfare worked as resource persons. The Promise Foundation is a charitable trust that comprises a core group, including psychologists, which provide various services.
