Head constable suspended

A head constable attached to Armed Reserve police was dismissed from service on Thursday.

Police said Raji (40), working with the AR police, Chennai, since July last year. It was alleged that he had let off a prisoner while taking him from the prison to a hospital for a medical check up. The Flower Bazaar police have registered a case in this connection. An inquiry by a special team in the AR police revealed that Raji had met a few prisoners, said Deputy Commissioner (AR) Damodaran. Based on the investigation, Raji was dismissed from service.
