GHMC to pump in 10 cr. to upgrade health posts
HYDERABAD: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation is determined to upgrade all the 84 health posts under its jurisdiction and it will be pumping in Rs. 10 crore as initial expenditure for the same.
GHMC Commissioner and Special Officer C.V.S.K. Sarma admitting that the health posts need a drastic overhaul directed his staff to come up with a perspective plan to improve the medical and civil infrastructure in all the health posts.
Despite poor facilities, these health posts remain the only source of medical aid to the poor, he noted.
He was particularly shocked at the wretched state of the health unit in Karwan, located in three acres with good buildings but no power or adequate health staff.
GHMC Additional Commissioner (Works) Rajeshwar Rao sought the Commissioner’s permission to outsource medical staff required for all the posts.
Night inspection
Dr. Sarma was on his night inspection to places like Asifnagar, Karwan, Tapachabutra, Mallepally, Seetharambagh, Kulsumpura, Hussaini Alam, Charminar, Chaderghat, Ramanthapur, Habsiguda, Uppal along with his team of officials from the corporation.
