Arrangements completed for Pulse Polio

KOCHI: Arrangements have been completed in Ernakulam district for the Pulse Polio programme on Sunday. Health authorities say the target is to provide oral polio vaccine to 2.51 lakh children under the age of five in the district. There will be 2,038 booths, 4,036 volunteers and 204 supervisors for the national polio-eradication programme. Transit booths will be set up at railway stations and bus stands and mobile units deployed to reach out to a large chunk of children among the migrant population. A meeting was held with city Corporation officials and those of organisations such as the Kudumbasree and Rotary and Lions clubs to ensure help from volunteers.

Migration of people from northern States poses a risk of spread of polio in the State.
