Crime Watch

Cameras stolen

Four digital cameras and a laptop, all worth Rs. 18.5 lakh were stolen from Joyce Meyer Ministries office building here at Nanakramguda on city outskirts, the police said on Thursday.

Theft of the cameras came to light when the staff of the Ministries came to office on Thursday after being on vacations from December 22. The three-floor office building is guarded by seven watchmen and has hidden cameras.

“The offenders used keys left in the office to unlock the room on the first floor to take away the cameras,” the Inspector R. Sudarshan told reporters.

The offenders were familiar with the topography of the building and the secret cameras installed inside.

The office staff claimed that the cameras had video footage recorded till December 21.

On examination, the police found the footage upto December 13 was deleted.

All this suggests that some persons having access to the building were involved in the offence, the police observed.

Joyce Meyer is a Christian author and preacher.

She was rushed to the Osmania General Hospital where she succumbed to her burns while undergoing treatment in the early hours of Thursday.

The driver allegedly began harassing his wife after she conceived for the second time suspecting that she had illegal intimacy with someone.

Neighbours told the police that the couple used to fight over the issue frequently.

Around 11 p.m. on Wednesday, he dragged out his wife, doused her in kerosene, set her ablaze and ran away.

The police began a hunt for him after registering a murder case.
