World Bank aid for water schemes

HYDERABAD: The State government will approach the World Bank for an assistance of Rs. 1,600 crore to fill the financial gap with respect to drinking water schemes taken up to cover 21,000 habitations under a Rs. 6,242-crore medium-term programme.

As against this commitment of Rs. 6,242 crore, the Union and State governments will together contribute Rs. 4,320 crore. While this will leave a gap of Rs. 1,922 crore, the State government will seek Rs. 1,600 crore.
