Fishermen released

RAMANATHAPURAM: The Sri Lankan Navy on Thursday repatriated 28 Indian fishermen of Nagapattinam, who were apprehended for entering the high security zone near Point Pedro and Kankesanturai on Wednesday.

According to Coast Guard sources, a Coast Guard Ship led by Commandant Kailash Negi, who received the fishermen, handed them over to fisheries officials at Kodiyakkarai. Three boats used by the fishermen were also brought back.

Three other boats with three crew members were not released for failing to keep valid documents. — Staff Reporter
