Film on pollution for French festival

HYDERABAD: Not everyone may notice the travails of a traffic policeman who is on his feet at least eight hours a day. It’s not just the physical strain that he is exposed to, but the health hazards on account of the increasing air pollution, which he is exposed to everyday that makes him vulnerable to diseases.

A short film based on this theme by Apex Productions has been selected for the Festival du Cinema de Paris, according to the film’s producer Ajay Jaiswal.
The 20-minute film shot in Hyderabad is the only movie to be chosen for the prestigious Paris film festival.
The story line revolves around Surya, a shuttle champion who gets a job as a police constable under sports quota.
His prolonged exposure to air pollution makes him suffer from various ailments and in the end he becomes so ill that he is unable to participate in sports competitions held by the Police Department.
The short film not only highlights the hazards of pollution, but also suggests ways of tackling it, Mr. Jaiswal said.
Ajay Surya, Rekha, Pramod Sarma, Chandrakala, Paramala and others comprised the cast, the camera was handled by Srinivas and Suresh. The short film was directed by LN Masade.
