KOCHI: A six day-long multi-ethnic food and cultural festival will be launched at Marine Drive on Saturday in connection with the ongoing Grand Kerala Shopping Festival. The programme is being organised jointly by the district administration and the District Tourism Promotion Council. It will be a meeting ground of the ethnic food products and cultural specialties of various States, District Collector A.P.M. Mohammed Hanish said. Apart from Kerala’s own delicacies, the festival will provide food with Tamil, Konkani, Kannanda, Tulu, Rajasthani, Oriya, Punjabi and Bengali flavour. Portuguese, Chinese, Italian and Arabian food items will also be there to lure the food connoisseurs. The ethnic food representing various States will be prepared by the housewives hailing from various linguistic communities, which have a strong presence in Kochi. The best dish will be given prize. Cultural programmes will be staged from 6 p.m. every day. Programmes highlighting the Andhra culture will be staged on Saturday. Public can enjoy the programmes till 11 p.m.
