VISAKHAPATNAM: Preparations are going at a frenetic pace for the Children’s Science Congress all set to begin on Saturday. Some 275 students from different parts of the country are participating in the event. The main highlight of the programme is the Science exhibition wherein 135 projects of the students will be displayed revolving around the focal theme , ‘Biodiversity – Nurture Nature for Future’. An interactive programme with noted agricultural scientist M.S. Swaminathan is likely to be organised on Saturday , the convener of Children’s Science Congress Prof. Visweswara Rao told The Hindu. The other programmes include a lecture followed by an interactive session with chief scientist of IBM India Dr. C. Mohan and cultural programme by students from Dallas, USA. For the first time, a group from Mizoram is also taking part in the Indian Science Congress. One of the interesting stalls at the expo includes the ‘astronomy on pots’ and ‘real rocket launcher’ projects by students of Planetarium, Warangal. The DRDO, the Indian Navy, the ISRO and the National Remote Sensing Agency are also participating in the expo. The expo is open for public till January 7 at the Gymnasium grounds.
