Many turn up for rangoli contest

Staff Correspondent

DAVANGERE: There has been a good response to the rangoli competitions held here on Friday as part of the on-going district festival. A large number of women gathered on Modi Road (which was closed on Friday for traffic) early in the day, and drew colourful rangolis. Many people who had visited the venue were seen appreciating the handiwork of the women.

A few elderly women were seen recalling how they used to draw images of Hindu pantheon of gods such as Krishna, Ganesha, Lakshmi and Durga. Headquarters assistant to Deputy Commissioner Bettasurmut drew a design in rangoli on the occasion.
