LIC distributes helmets

PUDUCHERRY: The Life Insurance Corporation of India, Vellore division, has donated as many as 100 helmets to the personnel of India Reserve Battalion of Puducherry.

A release said the helmets were handed over by R. Thamodharan, regional marketing manager, South Zone, Chennai, to the personnel at a function held here on Thursday.

Mr. Thamodharan said the LIC had set up Golden Jubilee Foundation with an initial corpus of Rs. 50 crore for its corporate social responsibility programme.

Every year, Rs. 10 crore would be added to the corpus fund for the next five years to take up various initiatives, the release said.
