BANGALORE: An autorickshaw driver and his three accomplices robbed a passenger of Rs. 250 in cash after threatening the victim with a knife in Nandini Layout police station limits here on Wednesday. The police said that around 10.30 p.m. Rajashekar boarded an autorickshaw on Nandini Layout Ring Road to reach his house in Muneshwara Block in Laggere. A passenger was already seated in the vehicle. After travelling some distance, the driver picked two more passengers. When Rajashekar objected, the driver and the three other men threatened him with a knife and robbed him of the cash, the police said. They took only Rs. 250 of the Rs. 450 that Rajashekar had on him. The Nandini Layout police have registered a case. The police said Rajashekar works as route guide to truck drivers from other States who come to Bangalore to deliver consignments. ArrestedThe Central Crime Branch (CCB) staff arrested Karthik Kumar (18) who had allegedly burgled four houses after he escaped from the Central Prison in Parappana Agrahara on September 21, 2007. The police have recovered from him gold and silver ornaments valued at Rs. 7.50 lakh. Karthik, who was serving a three-year term for committing theft, escaped from the prison by hiding in the diesel tank of a vehicle that had brought food to the prisoners. After the vehicle came out of the prison premises, he got off it at a traffic signal, the police said. The police are on the lookout for Thajju and Govinda Kumar.
